Playing for the President of Slovenia
Some performances are measured not by the size of the audience but by the weight of the occasion. Being invited to play for a head of state is one of them — and Mile Viero has done so twice, for the President of the Republic of Slovenia, in 2022 and 2024.
An invitation of trust
A performance for the President is an act of cultural representation. The artist is chosen to reflect the standard and character of the country's musical life on a formal, often diplomatic, stage.
For a young musician, receiving that invitation — and repeating it — is a strong signal of standing within the national music scene.
The accordion as a national voice
That the accordion should represent Slovenia at the highest level says something about the instrument's cultural weight in Central and South-Eastern Europe, where it carries both folk memory and concert-hall ambition.
A solo accordion can hold a formal room with dignity — intimate yet complete, capable of both reflection and celebration.
Part of a wider journey
The presidential concerts sit alongside other milestones — the Frankfurt Book Fair, solo concerts in Paris, and appearances at the Korotan Slovene Cultural Centre in Vienna.
Together they trace the path of an artist building an international career. Follow where it leads on the concerts page, or get in touch about a performance of your own.
