Biography
Mile Viero comes from the renowned Đurđević Žojan musical family from Osipaonica, Serbia. Today, he is one of the most decorated young accordionists of his generation, equally at home on the concert stage and at festive celebrations.
He earned his Master of Arts in accordion from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in 2024 with the highest honours, summa cum laude, and received the University of Ljubljana’s Honorary Diploma for outstanding academic achievement. Through the Erasmus programme he studied at the Conservatory of Music in Trieste, and he now continues his advanced studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, having previously taught accordion in Ljubljana.
Mile has won more than fifty first prizes at national and international competitions, among them the Akkordeonwettbewerb in Germany, the Coupe Mondiale in Lithuania, the Concorso Talento Contemporaneo in Italy and the TEMSIG competition in Slovenia. As soloist and chamber musician he has performed in Vienna, Ljubljana and Paris, including two concerts for the President of the Republic of Slovenia (2022 and 2024), the Frankfurt Book Fair (2023), three solo concerts in Paris and two concerts at the Korotan Slovene Cultural Centre in Vienna.
His teachers include Borut Zagoranski (Slovenia), Corrado Rojac (Italy), Boris Lenko (Slovakia) and Petar Mirkov (Serbia). Since 2025 he performs on a Bugari electric accordion, marrying tradition with modern technology, and his repertoire ranges across classical, crossover, film and popular music to the traditional folk music of the Balkans.
